Taking a Little Break

Hi everyone

Hope you're all well.  I haven't been about for a few weeks and the way things are looking I won't be about for a few more.

I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I'll be back in the new year with some crafty stuff to show off and a little new year candy.

Hope you all have a lovely holiday.

Christmas Gift Tags

Morning all, hope you all had a great weekend.

Things are starting to get busy now and crafting time is becoming quite limited.  This weekend I started making my Christmas gift tags.  So I spent most of Saturday in front of the fire crocheting my little hearts to make these tags.  I liked them so much I've started making some birthday gift tags too.

I'd like to enter my tags in the following challenges:

Clean and Simple Christmas

Hello everyone. So sorry I haven't been around over the last week, but I've been a little poorly.  I suffer from Diverticular Disease and have had a rather painful attack over this last week.  All better now though.  I hope everyone survived the storm last week with no or minimal damage.  We had a few trees and debris down, but that was pretty much it.

Trev took me out over the weekend and I found a new shop selling Shabby Chic furniture and bits and bobs. Love it.  Will definitely be visiting again.  If anyone lives near Elm Court, Gillingham, the shop is called "The Vintage Dove" and is tucked away around the back.  They have a craft cafe on a Wednesday morning where you take your craft and sit and chat with like-minded people.  Stephanie also runs courses in how to alter furniture with chalk paint.  Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Right, onto my card(s) today.  I found these embossing folders at Ally Pally and fell in love.  They're gorgeous and they're from Nellie Snellen.

I really love how these have turned out, they're quick, easy and very elegant (I think!)

Snowman Down

Hi all, hope you've all had a fab weekend.

Hubby has just jetted off on another lads photography trip, this time to Italy, so Emma and I have the house to ourselves again.  Lovely!

So, after a swift stock-up on yummies at M & S, we settled ourselves down for a weekend of munching and movies, it was so lovely not doing anything.

I did manage to squeeze in a little crafting time and as well as finishing off my cotton storage (previous post) I made a quick Christmas card.

I love this image, it made me chuckle when I first saw it, and does every time I see it.  I've made this card for one of my bosses, I really think it will appeal to his sense of humour.

A full shopping list is at the end of this post (albeit very short!)

Just a cotton-pick kin' minute!

Hi all, how's your weekend going?  Things are a bit wet and gloomy here today.  So, the perfect sort of weather to get on with some long put-off jobs.

Do you have a sewing box full of cotton reels, getting in a massive tangle?  I did, so after a search of the World Wide Web a while ago I found a brilliant idea that I just loved, and I've been meaning to get it done for about two years.

Away Once again I forgot to take pictures of before and during, but here's the after...

The process was very simple really, except you need to be quite handy with a saw.  I'm not, but luckily I know a man who is!!

I bought the picture frame for £5 from a local shop, took it apart and using the back as a template went off to B & Q to find a piece of wood.  Most branches have a cutting section and you can either get a piece cut to size or buy an off-cut like I did, for £1 (was extremely pleased with this bargain) and cut it to size yourself, or, as in my case, get your hubby to do it.  After measuring my largest cotton reel I mapped out a grid and marked the centre of each box.  I then whacked in nails at a slightly upward angle.  Once I'd finished expressing my anger, I painted the bit of wood (had to do it this way round to cover up all my "drawing").  Once the paint was dry I tacked the piece of wood into the frame, and Bob's your mother's brother!  I can now see all my cottons and they're not all sitting in a big knot.

Just need to hang it on the wall now.

Hope you like.  Off to put the kettle on and my feet up.

Take care.

Christmas Garland

Morning everyone, hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Not too many more weekends left now until Christmas.  I've just started my Christmas shopping and got a couple of little bits put away for my daughter.  She's at that age now when I'm a bit stuck as to what to get her.  A Barbie just isn't going to cut it anymore!!  Any ideas what to get a 17 year old girl??

Anyhoo, onto today's card.  I've made another rather heavily embellished Christmas card for my stash.  This one is ear-marked for my brother and his family.

I really love putting together these garland-style cards.

Xmas Hamster

Hi all, hope you all had a great weekend.

I had another crafty weekend.  I made a few more shabby flowers.  I found tutorials to make all of these flowers on youtube here http://m.youtube.com/user/alittleshabbychic.

So, after making all these flowers I then had the problem of what I should do with them.  Of course I could just sit and look at them, but I'm a bit more practical than that, so I made myself a new make-up bag to put one on ...

Just need to work out what to do with the other 8 I've made!!!

So, onto today's card.  My card features Xmas Hamster from Wee Stamps.  OMGoodness, but he's cute!  I really love this little fella.  He just looks so surprised!  I first saw him on Hazel's blog (http://hazelspapercrafts.blogspot.co.uk/ ) earlier this year and fell in love with him.  So did my friend, and promptly demanded that my Christmas card to her this year must feature him.  So, here it is.  I feel there is something missing, but haven't quite worked out what yet, so it may change between now and when I finally give it to my friend at Christmas!

A full shopping list of items used is at the end of this post.  The ribbon is 3mm Chiffon ribbon from Jaycotts.

Christmas Wishes

Hello everybods.  Hope you've all had a fabulous weekend.

I was pretty much house-bound this weekend while I was getting my windows and front and back doors repaired and painted ready for the winter.  So, I HAD to craft.

Here's what I got up to...

I started off by starting another "Hug" cushion for my friend Kerry.  I pretty much just did that on Saturday.

On Sunday I made this cushion...

I had a go at making these gorgeous shabby flowers....

love 'em!  But my glue gun died, so I only managed three.

Then I started on some Christmas pressies....

I plan on putting gift vouchers in the little Christmas stockings.

Now onto my card this weekend.  With all the other craftiness I've been up to, you can't blame me for keeping my card super simple this week.

As I used scraps of red card to make the poinsettia, I'm off to Pixie's Playground again this week (do love swings and see saws).
