This weekend I went to the Biggin Hill Sincerely Yours craft fair with my SIL. We spent a lovely few hours browsing and buying.
I've also been having a play. The other day during a clear-up of my crafty space I came across a whole box of fimo clay and had one of those "light bulb" moments. I wondered if it would be possible to make little fimo embellishments using my dies. So after we got back from the craft fair yesterday, it way playtime. I got out the fimo, picked a die, ran it through the die cutting machine and hey presto, little fimo gingerbread men. They really are tiny, I used a penny in the picture to give you an idea of just how small they are, but it worked perfectly and the die is completely undamaged.
After a few not so successful attempts we discovered that 130°C for 5 minutes was about right to cook them.
I also made a poinsettia, some butterflies , but because I got carried away and put too many dies with different coloured clays it got a bit messed up!! WARNING: When you run the die through the machine it does SQUISH the clay, I recommend rolling your clay as thin as you can and covering your plates with greaseproof or wax paper, both on top and underneath the dies because the machine will squish it much thinner!
The detail in the poinsettia is fantastic. It seems that any clay actually within the die will come out glossy, any exposed by the die will come out with a matt finish. I don't know how often I'll use these, but it was certainly fun to have a go.
Anyhoo, onto today's card. Once again I've used my gorgeous new PATP Snowflake Swirl punches this time on some pale blue glitter card. The image is Jasper the Snowman. A full list of items used to make this card (with links) is at the end of this post.
I'd like to enter my card in the following challenges:
